The electric cinema
Prosecco + pick 'n' mix = happy Maddie
A while back I treated the BF to a night out on the town for no reason at all. Actually no, I do know the reason, and it’s because I was having fancy place withdrawal symptoms. Usually I’m a huge fan of the cheap and cheerful hidden gem - think a greasy spoon which does the best heart-clogging full english ever, or a sushi dive with serve-yourself green tea and boxes of kleenex for napkins (this is a real place). But occasionally I feel a need for something wholeheartedly, unnecessarily extravagant. Sometimes you want someone to bring you a drink in a silly glass with gold bits on it emirate? Don't judge me.
"Think velvet armchairs, complimentary cashmere blankets, prosecco, hot and cold gourmet food, and apparently they show a film at some point too"
So we went to see a new film the BF has been talking about for weeks. But we didn’t just pop down the local Odeon. Oh no. Princess Maddie plumped for the Electric Cinema. Aka the fanciest place to watch a movie in the whole of London. Think velvet armchairs, complimentary cashmere blankets, prosecco, hot and cold gourmet food, and apparently they show a film at some point too. We’d had a big dinner, so we skipped the homemade brownies and the cheese board (not kidding, there is one available) and opted instead for the tried and tested combination of alcohol and pick ’n’ mix. Beer + fizzy cola bottles + a lot of big explosions was like Christmas come early for the BF, and someone did bring me a drink in a fancy glass with gold bits.
